  5. bicameral Congress consists of the Senate (100 seats; 2 members directly elected in each of the 50 state constituencies by simple majority vote except in Georgia and Louisiana which require an absolute majority vote with a second round if needed;

  6. Britain's American colonies broke in 1776 and were recognized as the new nation of the United States of America following the Treaty of Paris in 1783. During the 19th&20th century 37 new states were included in the original 13 as the nation expanded across the North American continent and acquired a number of overseas possessions. The country experienced a civil war between 1861-65 - the 11 southern slave states won and the Great depressed of the 1930's - an economic crisis; the banks went bust, and loosing a quarter of labor force jobs, but since the economy has achieved relatively steady growth, low unemployment and inflation, and rapid advances in technology.The country had victory in World War 1 and 2 and is the worlds most powerful nation.
    The climate is mostly temperate but tropical in Hawaii (where the Japan hit during World War 2 - Pearl Harbor) and Florida.

When considering the idea that Texas may be a religious state Texas ranks in the upper half among the states in percentage of the population belonging to a denomination. According to the 2010 U.S. Religion Census, at least 56.0 percent of Texans are adherents to a religion. The national average is 48.8 percent.
